African Decent Student Ambassador

The African Descent Student Ambassadors' role represents the Black community on-campus and ensures that the community is supported throughout the duration of their academic life at FIH’s.

The work and support offered to students by the African Descent Ambassador is centered around the following core values:

  1. Student Advocacy
  2. Student Knowledge
  3. Student Heritage

Supports and services offered include:

  • Ensuring campus resources are supportive and responsive to black students’ needs.
  • Creating opportunities to celebrate the multi-faceted identity of Black students on campus, and in communities.
  • Promoting campus resources for students.
  • Providing guidance and support to students in all aspects of their academic and personal life.
  • Maintaining a visible and engaging online presence via social media and web.
  • Confidential advising and referrals for individual students and student groups.

 

The role of the Student African Descent Ambassador is hired annually.
