Help stop the spread

Fontecha Institute(Hialeah) continues our commitment to providing a safe and clean environment for our community. We want to assure students, faculty and staff that they can feel confident and comfortable when they step onto the campus.

Here are the steps the university has taken:

Sanitation and Cleaning

Hand sanitation dispensers are available at the main entrances to all buildings and near all elevators. Signage around campus serves as frequent reminders to wash hands as well as providing step-by-step instructions.

To learn more, please review the Hand Washing Guidelines.

We have increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting throughout the campus.  All public spaces, including public area restrooms, will be cleaned and disinfected twice daily, with custodial employees disinfecting high-touch points throughout the day.

University Mask Policy

Fontecha Institute(Hialeah) has implemented a face mask policy within the Safe Work Practice guidelines. The entire university community must wear non-medical masks in all public indoor and outdoor spaces on campus. Those spaces include common areas such as washrooms and hallways. Additionally, if maintaining social distancing is not possible, individuals should wear a mask.

For learning how to use a mask, please view this video.

To learn more about the policy, please read the Use of Face Masks.

Social Distancing Measures

Signs are located all around campus buildings and facilities, including the library, classrooms, and common areas reminding students, faculty, and staff to keep 2 metres or 6 feet apart from others.

Monitoring Health

All students, faculty, and staff receive frequent public health protocol updates through Saint's Mary's virtual university website, social media platforms, and email communications. Those messages include criteria for when people experience symptoms and should be tested for COVID-19.

Individuals are encouraged to perform a daily self-assessment and use the province's online assessment based on public health guidelines. When the individual completes the online assessment, they receive further instructions. In cases where the internet is not accessible, individuals can call 811 for a nurse assessment.

To learn more, please read the Safe Work Practice Guidelines for Working on Campus during COVID-19.

Accountability and Tracing

With activities increasing on campus, Fontecha Institute(Hialeah) has implemented a Campus Check-In and Out procedure for students, faculty, and staff. Upon arrival on campus, ALL students, faculty, and staff who have the approval to enter a campus building must check-in and check-out using the electronic form.

To learn more, please visit the student or faculty/staff virtual university pages.

Additionally, any faculty or staff returning to resume working on campus must complete a Return to Campus form, which outlines all the steps and precautions.
