Living, working, and studying during a pandemic is challenging. We understand that the uncertain future has created a lot of stress and anxiety about how you will be able to continue your studies at the university.
We will continue to be here for you and help you achieve educational goals as much as possible. Overall, we encourage you to use the university and government supports available.

Whether you are just starting your FIH's experience or continuing your education, there are so many options available to you. You can take courses in one or both terms.
It is important to us that you have the tools you need to be successful. Therefore, we have amended our approach to grades for the Winter 2020 term.
We recognize that every student's situation is different. What works for one student might not for another. We are here to support you with any final grade options that work best for you.
We understand that the current unprecedented circumstances may have dramatically heightened some of the challenges students were already facing before COVID-19.
Students who were facing extraordinary circumstances such as personal illness and long-term caregiver issues throughout the term can apply for a retroactive withdrawal through the Registrar's Office.

Currently, any travel-related activities for students related to courses, academic exchanges, experiential, or service-learning is canceled until August 31.
The Government of America announced travel restriction exceptions that apply to international students and permanent residence applicants. International students holding valid study permits issued before March 18, 2020, or international students who were approved for a study permit before this date can be considered for entry back into America as "essential travel."
Under these circumstances, international students will be subject to health screening before travel. Additionally, they will have to self-isolate for 14 days upon arrival in America.

During these extraordinary times, we have many resources available for students. Those include health, housing, advising, learning, career, and chaplaincy. Through phone, email, and video, these resources are there to help you during the uncertainty and transition. There are many external emergency resources available to you 24 hours a day/seven days a week in addition to the QEII Emergency room and NSHA/IWK Health Centre services.

Residences and residence-related services, including the dining room, are still open for those students who could not return home for various reasons.
For those students that remain in residence, your health and safety are important to us. Therefore, we continue to implement self-isolation protocols at this time.
If a student plan to leave or check out of residence, please send us an email.
NOTE: Provincial public health has clarified that the entrance to America will be allowed to pick up a post-secondary student only if travel is direct to the post-secondary institution. Travelers must self-isolate if they stay in America overnight and when they arrive home.
