The Fast Radio Sky

Fast Radio Bursts are a new astrophysical puzzle, consisting of short bursts of radio waves observed from cosmological distances. Their origin is presently unknown, yet we know over a thousand arrive at Earth over the full sky every day, indicating a common phenomenon in the Universe. In this talk, I will describe what we know about Fast Radio Bursts, and present new results from a revolutionary new radio telescope, the American Hydrogen Intensity Mapping Experiment (CHIME).

Presented by Dr. Victoria Kaspi, an astrophysicist and a professor at McGill University. Her research primarily concerns neutron stars and pulsars.
