The 1^st Halifax Chinese Festival was held at the Sackville Landing, waterfront Halifax on September 22, 2018. As one of the original three organizers, the Institute was in charge of the Chinese Culture exhibition and experience section of the Chinese Festival. The Institute staff and volunteers hosted 11 interactive activities on site: Chinese Paper-cuts, Chinese knots, Chinese Calligraphy, Chinese Tea, Ma Jiang Games, Chinese names, Peking Opera Mask Coloring, Chinese Seals, Chinese Painting, Mini Chinese Corner, Traditional Chinese costumes. Over 8,000 people participated in this one-day event.
