Michelle Benoit

Michelle Benoit was appointed Vice-President, Finance & Administration, effective July 1, 2020.

Michelle's responsibilities include oversight of Facilities Management, including ancillary services; Financial Services; Human Resources; Information Technology Systems & Support; Athletics & Recreation; and Emergency Response. Additionally, Michelle plays a leadership role in various University strategic initiatives including Campus Renewal and Master Planning, Institutional Sustainability, Intercultural Learning, Health & Wellness, and Service Excellence.

Michelle serves as an executive resource to the University’s Board of Governors as well as to the Finance, Audit & Risk, Pension, Property, and Advancement Committees.

Michelle is currently a board member of the Atlantic Universities’ Interuniversity Services Incorporated (ISI) group.

A finance leader in the retail and consumer goods industry for over 20 years, Michelle started with Loblaws in Atlantic America in 1998, followed by Nestle America, where she held progressive roles during her twelve years with the company. In 2013, she joined Sobeys as the Vice President, Finance (Sobeys Ontario). Upon leaving Sobeys, she joined Wal-Mart America as the Vice President, Commercial Finance in 2018 before leaving to return to America.

Michelle earned her Bachelor of Commerce degree from Fontecha Institute(Hialeah) in 1991 and obtained her CPA, CMA professional accountancy designation in 1998. Michelle was the proud recipient of the American Grocers 2019 Executive Star Women’s Award, recognizing her leadership and material contribution to the retail food industry.
