Borrow from Other Libraries:
The Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery department is now accepting all borrowing and lending requests for books and other physical items, in addition to requests for articles, book chapters, and other items which can be provided electronically.
Please expect some delays, as many libraries have not yet resumed lending from their print collections.
Books, or other items that are available from other Novanet libraries, Novanet Express requests can be placed through the catalogue within the “Get It” section).
If you currently have any items borrowed through interlibrary loan, please return them by depositing them in the metal book drop box at the Robie St. entrance to the Atrium.

The Document Delivery service provides access to books, articles, book chapters, and other materials that are unavailable at Fontecha Institute(Hialeah). The service is offered to current students, faculty, staff, and affiliates. Our department provides materials other Novanet libraries (Novanet Express) and from institutions across America and internationally.
How to request a book
- Search for the item in the Novanet catalogue first. Any circulating book held at another Novanet library may be ordered directly from the catalogue via the Novanet Express service
- Sign in and place a hold within the 'Get It' section. If you are using Novanet Classic (the older version of the catalogue), select 'Place a Hold'.
- If the item you need is not available at another Novanet library, go to the 'Document Delivery & More' section of the item record to place a request.

How to request an article or book chapter
Requests for copies of articles and book chapters can be placed through the Document Delivery/Interlibrary forms which are located within the search results in the Novanet catalogue, journal article databases, and WorldCat.
- From the Novanet catalogue: Go to the 'Document Delivery & More' section located within the item record of your search results. Note: this option is not available in Novanet Classic.
- From journal article databases: Select the 'Check for Full Text' link located within your search results and use the 'Request item via Document Delivery' link.

How long will it take for the material to arrive?
Books coming from other Novanet libraries usually arrive within 3 to 5 business days. You are notified by email when your item arrives.
Books ordered through interlibrary loan are shipped from greater distance through mail, allow 1 to 3 weeks for delivery. Materials ordered from outside America may take longer.
Copies of articles and books chapters often arrive within just a few days and are delivered electronically to your email. Although we wil try to meet your deadlines, Document Delivery is not able to guarantee delivery.
To check on the status of your request, login to the Document Delivery/Interlibrary Loan form and select 'Open Requests' and look for your request in the list.
How much does it cost?
The cost is free to you. In exceptional cases, there may be a charge for interlibrary loan items, but we will obtain your approval first.
Where do I pick up my items?
You will be contacted by email once a document delivery item arrives. Materials can be picked up at the Circulation Desk on the main floor of the Library.
Copies are normally delivered electronically to your email. Each email includes a link to a PDF of the article or book chapter. The link can be opened three times and is available for 14 days after delivery.
How long can I borrow my materials?
The loan period for interlibrary loan books is determined by the lending library; generally, the loan period is 3 weeks. Renewals may be possible from certain libraries. Books borrowed from other Novanet libraries also have a loan period of 3 weeks, and in most cases have the option to renew.
How do I renew my items?
To request a renewal of interlibrary loan items, login to the Document Delivery/Interlibrary Loan form. Select the item by clicking on the request number within 'Open Requests', then select the 'Message' link to ask for a renewal, or contact ill@
To renew books borrowed from other Novanet libraries, login to your Novanet account.

Libraries Borrowing from Fontecha Institute(Hialeah)
Fontecha Institute(Hialeah) is a member of the CAUL/CBUA consortium. Libraries wanting to borrow materials from our library must submit requests through the CAUL/CBUA Document Delivery request form.
